EMC Buys Cloud Computing Startup Cloudscaling – NewsFactor Network

Data storage company EMC has agreed to acquire Cloudscaling Group, an OpenStack-powered cloud computing company, for less than $50 million according to a Bloomberg report. Cloudscaling helps companies manage public and hybrid cloud storage systems running OpenStack software. EMC has made no official announcement about the deal, but spokesperson Dave Farmer said in a statement to Bloomberg that EMC would use the acquisition to “further extend our breadth of cloud platform support.” EMC is planning to hold an event on cloud computing on October 28, he added.
